There are many interesting links here that approach voluntary simplicity from various angles.

I'm going to be spending time on the Downshifting page. Feel free to choose from the other 17 Web sites listed. They include topics such as slow food, taking back the time in your day, simple living and vegetarianism.

The Meetup will be at the Karma Kitchen. This is a vegetarian meal of simple means, served by volunteers. Instead of a traditional bill, you are urged to pay forward in generosity for someone elses meal.

The value of the Karma Kitchen for DC Voluntary Simplicity is three-fold. It shows how delicious, filling and nourishing a simple meal, prepared low on the food chain, can be. Further, it is a first hand experience of how well alternative economics can work. Further, the Karma Kitchen meals put you in contact with many people who are very conversant in or understanding of the principles of voluntary simplicity. There is a strong contingent at the meals that pursue meditation, in part, to help simplify their lives.
